PasadenaSchools.info
is a grassroots movement dedicated to constructive change in the Pasadena
Unified School District.
We feel that by sharing resources and information, community factions that have been working tirelessly for change can come together and find a broad, common voice. With information, individuals are empowered to draw their own conclusions, rather than relying on "Susie Sunshine" or the "Nattering Nabobs of Negativism".
A major part of our mission is to provide a community-built clearinghouse for documents and information. We strive to help close the information gap between the district and the communities it serves. Organizing and disseminating documents and facts constructively addresses one of the admitted failings of the district without having to wait for someone else to do it for us.
Join us in building a strong, constructive community voice.

Our technology
PasadenaSchools.info
is a built for collaboration. It consists of three basic elements:
Home is the page you are on now. The links in the right column are feeds of latest information from various news and opinion sources. There are tabs along the top that take you to the other major areas of the site.
Central Desktop is our collaboration space. This is where our calendar, document archives, contact sheets, and other facts are organized. Central Desktop is a cutting edge Web 2.0 work space that allows anyone with a web browser to contribute. No special programs or expertise are needed to make changes and additions to the Central Desktop workspace(s).
Discussion is our email discussion group. We decided to use a Yahoo! Group for this, because PEN and greatschools both already use Yahoo! to host their email services. While we have some geeky technical reservations about it, we feel that their established familiarity arguably makes Yahoo! Groups a de facto standard for this type of discussion, so we opted not to fight the tide.
